SIA CCTV Course Birmingham

The CCTV training course is a four days training, at the end of the training if you qualify you would be able to apply for your SIA CCTV Pss license (Public space surveillance).

You need to be 18 and above and have a fair degree of understanding of English.

Contents of the SIA CCTV training

  • Unit 1: Principles of Working in the Private Security Industry

    • Know the main characteristics and purposes of the Private Security Industry
    • Understand legislation as it applies to a security operative
    • Understand arrest procedures relevant to security operatives
    • Understand the importance of safe working practices
    • Understand fire procedures in the workplace
    • Understand emergencies and the importance of emergency procedures
    • Understand how to communicate effectively as a security operative
    • Understand record keeping relevant to the role of the security operative
    • Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
    • Understand how to keep vulnerable people safe
    • Understand good practice for post incident management
  • Unit 2: Principles and Practices of working as a CCTV operator in the private security industry

    • Understand the purpose of a surveillance (CCTV) systems and the roles and responsibilities of control room team and other stakeholders.
    • Understand the different types of legislation and how they impact on Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) operations.
    • Understand the importance of operational procedures in public space surveillance (CCTV) operations.
    • Understand how public space surveillance (CCTV) systems equipment operates.
    • Understand Surveillance techniques
    • Understand different types of incidents and how to respond to them
    • Understand health and safety in the CCTV environment.
    • Demonstrate operational use of CCTV equipment
    • Produce evidential documentation

After you have successfully finished the training, you would be able to apply for your SIA CCTV license. Eighty percent of the SIA licenses are processed within 25 working days provided there is no complication. In case if there is a delay in your license the regulator will write to you and may ask for additional information.

You cannot work in the security industry without a valid license. Once you have been granted the CCTV license you would be able to work as a CCTV Pss operator.

We can provide training for CCTV in our Birmingham venue 70 Warwick street B12 0NL. The venue can be ours or it can be of the client as well.

Frequently asked questions about the SIA CCTV Pss Training

Is the course difficult?

Different learners have different abilities to learn and retain information. The course has been set at level 2, which means that it is an entry-level qualification. Thus the majority of the people that are about 99 percent of the learners qualify in the first attempt.

Will I get my result on the same day?

No, you will get your results after five working days.

Will I get a certificate after the course?

Yes, you will get a physical certificate after the course. Once your result is published, after ten working days you can come to the center and collect your certificate.

Can I apply for the license after the result or do i have to wait for the certificate?

Yes, you can apply for the SIA license once we tell you that you have passed. You don’t need to wait for the actual physical certificate to arrive in order to apply for your SIA CCTV license.

What if I fail the CCTV training?

As already mentioned the majority of the people qualify in the first attempt. However, if you fail a particular module you don’t have to come again for the training. You would be required to resit the module that you have failed.
